Shibbir Ahmed, DALLAS, United States: Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport is taking steps to enhance passenger convenience by installing dedicated foot-washing (wudu) stations near its restrooms, according to a report by Fox News. The project is slated for completion by the end of this year.

Officially registered on July 31, the project carries an estimated budget of approximately $300,000, funded entirely through private contributions. The new facilities will feature separate, low-profile wudu stations for men and women within the existing restrooms of Terminal D.

Airport authorities noted that the initiative addresses common maintenance issues, such as slippery, wet floors and potential damage to standard bathroom basins caused by passengers attempting to wash their feet in regular sinks. Several other major U.S. international airports have already implemented similar accommodations.

While this expansion marks a significant upgrade, dedicated facilities are not entirely unprecedented at DFW. When the Interfaith Chapel near Gate D40 in Terminal D opened in 2019, it introduced the airport's first two wudu stations, setting a precedent for inclusive travel infrastructure.
