Shibbir Ahmed, UNITED NATIONS, NEW YORK — The United Nations General Assembly has officially adopted Bangladesh’s flagship resolution, titled "Follow-up to the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace." The adoption reinforces a renewed global commitment to multilateral dialogue, tolerance, solidarity, and international coexistence. The draft resolution was introduced to the General Assembly by Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Addressing the assembly, Ambassador Chowdhury emphasized that cultivating peaceful, inclusive, and resilient global societies demands sustained diplomatic dialogue, deep respect for cultural diversity, and an unwavering adherence to the core principles outlined in the United Nations Charter. He extended gratitude to member states for their constructive engagement and consensus, urging a global shift that prioritizes cooperation over conflict and understanding over intolerance.
