Shibbir Ahmed, Queens, New York: U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders officially endorsed Shamsul Haque this morning in the race for New York State Assembly District 30, praising his commitment to working families, economic justice, healthcare access, and grassroots leadership across Queens. The endorsement marks a major milestone for the campaign and strengthens growing support for Haque’s vision of a more affordable and equitable New York.

Shamsul Haque said, “Bernie Sanders has spent his entire career fighting for working people’s rights, healthcare as a human right, economic justice, and dignity for immigrant communities. A longtime resident of Woodside, Shamsul Haque retired last year after serving more than two decades in the New York Police Department. He made history as the first Bangladeshi Muslim Lieutenant Commander in the department’s history. Throughout his public service career, Haque built a reputation centered on justice, integrity, transparency, and accountable leadership focused on protecting and serving the community.

Haque is campaigning across Woodside, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, and Maspeth on a platform focused on affordable living, tenant protections, healthcare access, immigrant rights, union jobs, and community-centered public safety.
